Kakaichū are a very rare species of mosquito that was believed to have gone extinct in the Land of Fire. These insects were originally used by a faction of the Aburame Clan who wished to take control of Konoha. Do to the power granted to the user wielding this insects, opposing Aburame Clan members and several other clans of Konoha wiped the faction out and exterminated the mosquitoes, so they thought. There were a few times throughout history that members of the clan emerged able to use this secret technique but they were forbidden to become shinobi and kept secret. These insects are rather docile in nature unless provoked and can be controlled via through the mind and hand movements. Currently the only member who wields them is Roku Aburame.
