Unlike the Raker-class missile frigate, the Broadside was 500 meters long and it used its 40 missile launchers in a much different way. While the Raker was loaded with concussion missiles, the Broadside was fitted with diamond boron missiles, which allowed it to take on massed groups of fighters with ease. Other than the missile tubes and two tubolasers, the ship had no other defensive weapons, making it quite vulnerable to capital ships. It was also not very self-sufficient, lacking any hangar bay or passenger room.
