The Battle of Cormit was, along with the Battle of Kinoss, the first engagement of the Golden Empire's conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy. While Sorrik struck Kinoss, Tariun Sakaros led roughly forty percent of the Royal Navy's total invasion force to Cormit and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force base there. His fleet outnumbered the Chiss almost two to one, but they had an even greater advantage due to Rin Sakaros's Battle Meditation. The Chiss had highly logical and organized minds compared to those Rin had manipulated before; while this made emotional manipulation slightly less viable, she was able to interfere with the ability of commanders to concentrate or follow lines of thought through to conclusion.
