The Treadwell Yard was a Manticoran shipyard and a major Navy defense contractor. In May 1870 PD, it was discovered that Treadwell had been paying Matthäus Routhier, Earl of Summercross, and the Conservative Association's political action committee significant amounts of money in return for their votes on certain appropriations bills.
