Mayor Romanova spearheaded the effort to rebuild San Francisco after the earthquake of 2109. The Romanova Building, part of the city's skyline in the 23rd and 24th centuries, was named for this leader. (TNG novel A Time for War, A Time for Peace) In Russian, the "a" ending of the name "Romanova" would indicate that the mayor was a woman. However, since such naming conventions aren't used in the States, the sex of the mayor is uncertain.
