The firm of Richard Tidman dated back to the mid 1800s and was one of three noted makers of Fairground center engines and rides. The firm was based in Norwich Norfolk. Very few of there engines survive as when fairs moved to electric power after the war a lot of the engines were scrapped or sold to market gardens who used them for soil serilisation and stripped the motions off.
