I n 2008, the city of Tokyo opened a statue of 3 meters from the Gundam RX-78-2. Its location is the home of Sunrise, Kamiigusa. Sunrise is the studio responsible for the Gundam anime and manga. A statue of three feet tall, took two years to create. A total cost of approximately 20 million yen. Of these, only 2 million of this amount came from government subsidies, the rest came from Sunrise itself.
