Tracy Tormé was an author of mystery detective novels in the early 20th century. One of his more famous characters was Dixon Hill, who appeared in the Amazing Detective Stories Magazine during the 1930s and 1940s. (TNG episode: "The Big Goodbye") Tormé's stories were among those that appealed to Zak Kebron during his Starfleet Academy off-time. (NF novel: Stone and Anvil) The fictional Tracy Tormé is named after the real-life Star Trek: The Next Generation scriptwriter who wrote the episode "The Big Goodbye," in which the Dixon Hill holoprogram was first featured.
