"Winter's Chill" is the second story starring The Great and Powerful Turtle , appearing in "Aces High" the second book in the Wild Cards series. Most of the action revolves on Thomas Tudbury, the Turtle, reflecting on one of his failed relationships. A few years before the action of the series, Tudbury had become reacquainted with a girl who he had had a crush on in school. The two begin a romantic relationship but Tudbury breaks it off when he learns that the woman is a Wild Carder who had been cured by Dr. Tachyon's "Trump Virus" cure. Since Tudbury himself is secretly an ace any children that they had would also inherit the Wild Card and be likely to either die (as a suicide king) or become a joker.
