The silk shirt is a common article of clothing worn in France on Earth in the 24th century. When Jean-Luc Picard returned home in 2367, he wore a silk shirt while visiting his brother, who also wore a silk shirt. A childhood friend visited Picard, also wearing a silk shirt. After staying with his family for some time, Picard announced he would not participate in the 24th century French custom of silk shirt-wearing, and returned to his xenylon redshirt uniform.
