The TIE/rc Vanguard was a light reconnaissance starfighter used by the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War, and was later seen being used by the Dark Empire and Thrawn's Confederacy. One notable unit that used Vanguards was the 233rd Imperial Fighter Wing. The Vanguard was a modified TIE/ln starfighter with better speed and communications equipment used as a scout, reporting on enemy fleet movements. The model used extra shielding to keep the information safe.
