This list identifies authors whose entire body of work is in the public domain in the country from which that author originated. While determination that a work lies in the public domain differs from country to country, the most common standards are that works enter the public domain the year following the 50th or 70th anniversary of the death of the author. This list contains non-U.S. authors who are in the 71st calendar year after their death, authors of any nationality who have expressly released their entire body of work into the public domain, and U.S. authors whose last work was published prior to 1923, as all works published in the United States before that year are in the public domain in that country.
