Miss Tighe is a play group teacher in Sesame Street books, appearing in Grover's Bad, Awful Day and Don't Be Shy. Her students at various times include Grover, Herry Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Bert, Ernie, Malcolm Monster, Prairie Dawn, Betty Lou, Honkers, Elmo, Big Bird, Mr. Snuffleupagus, Cookie Monster and others. Activities and subjects taught in Miss Tighe's play group include show-and-tell, art, reading and the alphabet, music (for which she plays the piano), lunch, and playtime in the park.
