The entire planet, along with its nine attendant moons and stations, is a single, huge military-industrial complex under the direct control of the United Planetary Federation and Spacefleet. All industrial, mining and agricultural efforts in the system are dedicated to maintaining this military-industrial complex, with everything conducted under tight military security, so access to the system is highly restricted. Directly above Stronghold, in geosynchronous orbit, is UPF Fortress Defiant, arguably the most powerful battlestation ever seen in the Frontier.
