Patis(VVM058) was born on August 21, 2000 in the Vivian Mob. His mother was Rhian, the dominant female and his father was an unknown male. He was born in a large litter of six pups, his litter-mates were Uacari(VVF053), Colobus(VVM054), Tarsier(VVM055), Macaque(VV?056), and Mangabey(VVF057). All of the pups survived to adulthood. In June 2001 nine of Patis' uncles; Basil, Izit, Zazu, Zaphod, Yossarian, Genghis, Alexander, Govinda and Phooey left the Vivian on a roving trip and joined the Whiskers. Exactly a month later Patis and Attila also left the Vivian and joined their relatives at the Whiskers.
