Slater Dobbs was a construction worker in the employ of Kelly Construction. He was also part of Reverend John Chalker's Pentecostal congregation. After the Ring of Fire, Dobbs was among those who developed anti-German views, and spent much of his off-time in 250 Club. However, his prejudice was not to the extreme as in his words "Just because these down-time Germans aren't as advanced as us West Virginians, it doesn't mean that they're stupid."
