Garfid was a tracker in the horde of a hundred white vermin and is described as Gulo the Savage's best tracker. He inspected the trail left behind by Yoofus Lightpaw and reported that it was that of Askor in order to keep Gulo happy. As another ermine, Eissaye, is described as Gulo's best tracker later on in the book, it is probable that Garfid was slain in a battle against crows that occurred earlier.
