Like Quisqueya, the island was divided and later unified. The island was occupied under Quisqueyan control until the Second Quisqueyo-Borinquén War. It also defeated another group in the region, the Caribs, and controlled the Lower Antilles of the Region, creating the Borinquen Empire.
