The 1983 Goody's 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Martinsville Speedway on September 25, 1983. Ricky Rudd won his second and final race of the year, leading 380 of 500 laps and holding off Bobby Allison by 4.5 seconds. Allison was now in charge of the points lead late in the season, holding a 106-ponit championship lead on Darrell Waltrip (3rd).
