Betsy Neft was the daughter of Ed and Diana McGraw. During World War II, she married Buster Neft, a veteran of the Pacific theater who'd been wounded. They stayed in their home town of Anderson, Indiana, and had a child, Stan. In September, 1945, Betsy and her parents were notified that Betsy's brother Pat had been killed outside of Munich, Germany during an attack launched by the German Freedom Front. The fact that his death came well after Germany officially surrendered made the death that much more unbearable.
