Satan is the main antagonist in the controversial film The Passion of the Christ. He is depicted as a ghostlike genderless spiritual menace unlike the stereotypical image of a two horned red-skinned Devil. Despite his character being masculine in nature, Satan is portrayed by Rosalinda Celentano, a woman. However, at the end of the film, Jesus succeeds in sacrificing himself for humanity's sins and at the same moment, Satan is sent back to an isolated and parched area of Hell, where he screams in agonizing defeat.
