Surlok was a clear condensed venom obtained from the spines of the surn, a catfish native to temperate, slow fresh water. In mammals, surlok dissolved the nerve receptors in the victim's fingers and toes, destroying the sense of touch and ultimately leading to gangrene; at minimum, it caused loss of sensitivity. Note: The raw venom had the same effect but was much weaker.
