Dean Albertson was a former founding member of the left-wing domestic terrorist group Gun Barrel Party from the 1970s who had gone into hiding. He was wanted for terrorist acts since the early 1970s, including a bombing at the Naval Base at San Diego that left three sailors dead, and while in hiding in a cabin in the woods, he also entered a relationship with a hermit woman named Ellen.
