New London Ale is commonly enjoyed by Tam Macaulay and his gang. It is served in large tankards (metal beer mugs). As a treat, a slug is sometimes found at the bottom of a shot, with a superstition that you will be married within a month if you don't eat it. The drink is thought to have a high alcohol content. Tam has said that you really don't want to know what it's made of. The expression "deader than a slug in a pint of New London" is used by some Colonists (ex. Eliza)
