Mrs Flanagan was the secretary to Father Bennett of St. Theresa's RC Church. Harry Hewitt and Concepta Riley were engaged to be married and the bride was of the Catholic faith. Harry was willing to take catholic instruction and Mrs Flanagan arranged the appointments for Harry and Concepta to see the priest. Later in the year, she was present when Father Bennet reconciled Concepta with her parents who had previously been opposed to the match.
