Joachim was the master of the Sayer Iceblood clan in northern Assail. He was very tall and wiry and possessed a long jaw with pronounced canine teeth. He had oblong, amber eyes set beneath a deep brow and "long earth-brown hair hung in a dirty mass about his shoulders".
