Itangast was the deadliest and smartest of the unwinged Fire-drakes in the Grey Mountains. He was quick and stealthy but huge, measuring ninety feet in length. Known for his beautiful blue-tipped black scales and long, silvery horns, he had a disarmingly beautiful guise. His name aptly described his nature, for Itangast meant "Guest-eater" in the Northman tongues of Rhovanion. He kept his abode at Gold Hill in the middle of a dry lake in the Heath's southeastern lowlands.
