In the Weekly Shōnen Jump the Assistant Editor in Chief is the person second in command with the only person above them are them being the Editor-in-Chief. The Assistant Editor in Chief communicates with the Editors more directly dealing with issues that aren't important enough to trouble the Editor in Chief. Yoshihisa Heishi was the previous Assistant Editor in Chief in Weekly Shonen Jump before being promoted to Editor in Chief.
