Joan Haythorne was born on 12th April 1915 in Ealing, London and died on 27th August, 1987. She had a long career as an actress in film and television appearing in, amongst others, School for Secrets, Svengali, Dixon of Dock Green, Armchair Theatre, Paul Temple, Play for Today and Hadleigh. On stage she appeared in 1952 on Broadway in Venus Observed. In 1966 she appeared as Lady Penge in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Frying, a second season episode of the Coronation Street spin-off Pardon the Expression.
