Carter is the grandson of Theo Cain. He is seventeen, and is a werewolf, but hasn't changed. Theo wanted to try and take Carter's cousin, Derek Souza (as Derek was the son of his favorite son, Carter's uncle Zachary). Carter doesn't like Derek, particularly because he has already changed and he is the same age as Carter. To take him they decided they would kidnap his girlfriend, Chloe Saunders, and use her as bait to lure Derek in. Carter takes an interest in Chloe and hits on her while she is alone in the food court of a mall near where she is staying.
