The Cosmos program was a program was a space probe program of the 1990s carried out by the Europa Space Agency. It succeded the Libertas Space Program. Two probes, Cosmos 1 and 2 were sent towards the direction of the sun in order to exit the solar system, as Libertas 5 had done before. They were launched in June and August 1993. Cosmos 1 flew too close to the sun and is trapped in Heliocentric orbit. In 1997 the Cosmos program was complemented by the Astros Space Program.
