A young girl is forced by her father to sell matches in the cold streets, yet not one person even looks at her. When she lights a match, she sees an illustion and is filled with happiness, however when it goes out the cold reality returns. Deciding she won't take her father's abuse any longer, she sets their house on fire with him inside and takes his money to buy some bread.
