Gul Toran was a Cardassian military officer serving in the Sixth Order, where he was assigned to command Outpost 61. In 2371, Toran reported being attacked by the USS Defiant after it was stolen by the Maquis. However, the attacking vessel wasn’t the Defiant, but was another Maquis vessel producing a fake warp signature. This was done so that the real Defiant could attack Outpost 47 and then sneak into Cardassian territory.
