After eluding Shampoo, Ranma explains to Akane how she beat Shampoo back in China and has since been relentlessly pursued by her in order to get revenge. Later that day, however, Ranma beats Shampoo whilst in his male form (which Shampoo has never seen before); resulting in Shampoo being in love with Ranma's male form. As she spends more time with the male Ranma, Shampoo begins seeing Akane as an obstacle to getting Ranma's love. This leads her to use a technique known as Xi Fa Xiang Gao along with a special herbal shampoo to wipe all memories of Ranma from Akane's mind.
