It is situated on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in the Vesplano region. The city dates back to the times of the Roman Republic in the old world and the Barcelonan-Navarran Empire in the new world. Its population is estimated to be at 2.35 million residents within a greater metropolitan area of around 5.295 million residents, making it the 3rd in ENOV.
