This class of destroyers is the most recent pattern ordered by their lordships of the Admiralty and is still being built. It is an improved design based on the older M class, with increased speed and range. The midships and aft artillery is now installed on raised platforms nicknamed bandstands, giving them an enhanced firing arc and improved usability in heavy weather.
