Half a year following the release of the Macintosh IIx passed before Apple introduced the Macintosh IIcx. Despite resembling the IIx to great extents, the IIcx is quieter (due to its more silent fan) than the elder IIx. The design is also smaller and more compact. In fact, it was one of the (very) few Macintosh models which could be set either in a horizontal or vertical position! The IIcx's components and parts snap into the computer case without the need for either screws. This made it less expensive to build, easier to repair, and was well-received by the Mac commuinty.
