Surok was a male Vulcan who was a leader at the New Vulcan colony. He was the father of T'Mar and was the mentor of Spock. He was also responsible for the shutdown and destruction of the Helios Station. Kirk called him a moron before T'Mar revealed her connection to him; the red-faced captain quickly apologized. After surviving a Gorn attack on the colony, Surok was kidnapped, tortured, and later killed by the Gorn, but not before disclosing his daughter's familiarity with the Helios Machine.
