The psionic matrix was sparked 3000 years ago. It is formed from a series of khaydarin crystals embedded in the planet's crust. These crystals, and the power structure coursing through them, were limited to three access points near the surface. Protoss warp gate units could be warped-in within the psionic matrix created by pylons and the warp prism. After the End War, the Daelaam began rebuilding the psionic matrix as part of their reconstruction efforts.
