Garonnin was a staunch monarchist and remained loyal to the Empire even as many of his colleagues abandoned it and became warlords. Despite his fidelity to the New Order and Emperor Palpatine, he did not completely with their ideas, such as discrimination against non-Humans. However, the nobleman valued order and loyalty above all else, detesting the Rebellion and other "anarchist" groups.
