He played Junior "B" with the Sarnia Legionnaires in 1955-56. The next year he turned pro with the Buffalo Bisons. Ward got into 3 games with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1957-58 and then was accquired by the Boston Bruins in 1959. He played in 31 games for the Bruins in 1959-60 and scored his only NHL point, an assist. Ward played 11 seasons (1961-1972) for the Seattle Totems. In 1972-73 he played for the Greensboro Generals and retired.
