Scouts under orders from the White Hand, Vurbôk and Markûl were spying on the deployment of the cavalry of the West Emnet during a break in a skirmish. They stumbled upon a lone cottage where Ure completed the tasks of house and stable in the absence of her brothers and father. Éogil's sister Ure did not survive the encounter,but the scouts lived only a few hours longer. Both were well-armed:Markûl wielded a hand axe and dagger, while Vurbôk brandished aknotched, but deadly, falchion.
