The founder of the American edition of the Global Media Journal and the driving force behind the creation of the other editions is Yahya R. Kamalipour (Purdue University Calumet). In 2006, Mashoed Bailie (Eastern Mediterranean University) established the Mediterranean edition and as of 2007, there are another 10 editions.
