In one of the side missions in Awakening, Chrom and his group encounter an Anna who tries to fend off a bunch of bandits. Chrom and his Shepherds aid her and the bandits are defeated. Anna thanks Chrom and leaves. Later, in the next side-mission, Chrom encounters what's left of the bandit gang who has captured a different Anna, in belief that she was the one responsible for their defeat before. Chrom attacks the bandits and saves Anna. Anna agrees to join Chrom's Shepherds as a thanks for helping both her and the other Anna. Anna then stays in the party until her fall in battle.
