Midfielder Matthew Lund joined Rovers on a month's loan at the end of January 2012 from Premier League side Stoke City. He had yet to play a game for his parent club, and was sent out on a temporary deal in order to gain some first team experience, as well as to provide cover in The Pirates' injury ravaged midfield. He has represented Northern Ireland at under-21 level, playing in a 2–0 defeat to Wales at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.
