Churches are welfare buildings in Tropico 3 and Tropico 4. Churches are basic Catholic houses of worship and building one is the very first demand of the Religious faction. Tropicans visit churches in order to satisfy their need for faith and making sure everyone has adequate access to one will help in boosting the average religious satisfaction, another Religious demand. Having too many churches for an island's population is taken as a sign of Christian fundamentalism, which lowers relations with the Islamic Middle East.
