The BK-series fire control droid were introduced in 476 BBY to assist and in some cases replace living fire-fighters. An instant hit, the BK-series still served in 18 ABY, more than four centuries after its introduction. It was armoured with heat- and fire-resistant materials, and armed with a foam cannon and a variable pressure water cannon. By 18 ABY, the BK-series was on its seventeenth incarnation (BK-17).
