The Ionescans are a humanoid species native to the Ionesco VII in the Alpha Quadrant. They are highly advanced technologically, but have grown so dependent upon technology that very few of them could survive without it - this is quite literal; most Ionescans actually rely upon small machines to maintain vital bodily functions. Some Ionescans, like the wealthy eccentric Antathon Dilevu, have tried to reduce their dependence, but these individuals have often ended up using personal valets, like Dilevu's long-suffering Sitomacci butler, Jevis Martok.
