The RG470 went through several iterations throughout the years. For this third iteration production was returned to Japan from Korea and several changes were introduced over the second model, including a new bridge and pickups. This third generation RG470 was sold exclusively in the USA in 1998 and 1999 while the Korean-made second generation continued to be offered elsewhere. Production of the Korean model ceased after 1999 and this model was sold worldwide starting in 2000. The RG470 was discontinued after 2004.
