The Proxima-class is a type of Federation starship first built by Starfleet in the mid-23rd century. It is considered to be a battleship and is extremely heavily armed. At some point in time, it underwent a refit that added updated nacelles, a weapons pod, as well as 2 additional forward torpedo launchers to the front of the saucer.
